I imagine it's been a good long while since I made any mention of all the craziness that's been happening in Japan. I'll do my best to sum everything up.
At the center of all of this is YAMATO. For months, YAMMY was not pleased with the lack of progress -akatsuki- as Chihiro Tominaga and Super Shenlong III were not necessarily improving in rank. It all came ahead just weeks prior to Kobe World when he betrayed Shingo Takagi during their defense of Twin Gate, allowing Akira Tozawa and BxB Hulk to win the belts. He joined up with MAD BLANKEY, proclaiming himself to be FREE of being held back by Shingo.
Shingo did not let the betrayal hold him down as he ended CIMA's year and a half long reign as Dream Gate Champion at Kobe World. YAMATO was obviously not pleased and would set about bringing Shingo down. It started in the month of August when MAD BLANKEY won a losing unit must disband match against -akatsuki- with the added bonus of the loser of the fall getting unmasked or their head shaved (in this case, Shenlong lost his mask). YAMATO then beat Shingo in the latter's first defense of Dream Gate to claim the championship. Clearly YAMATO is on cloud nine.
Furthermore, after the unit disbanding match, YAMATO led a coup that saw Tozawa kicked out of MAD BLANKEY. Tozawa attempted to take on his former unit on his own at first, but then found common ground and friendship with Shingo. During an instance where MAD BLANKEY attacked Tozawa, they told Uhaa Nation to strike him down. Nation was hesitant as Tozawa was his friend. So MAD BLANKEY kicked him out and brought back Cyber Kong. Tozawa and Shingo accepted Nation into their team of best friends.
After losing Dream Gate at Kobe World, CIMA took time off to re-evaluate his career after a year and a half at the top. Though he has returned to action, he appears to be taking a bit of a back-seat and letting the youngsters rise. Taking a cue from CIMA is Masato Yoshino, who has vacated Brave Gate. One group in particular taking advantage of all this is the Millenials of Eita, T-Hawk, and U-T. The trio had spent the last several months in Mexico and DGUSA honing their skills before returning to Japan better than ever. Made up of wrestlers who were born in 1990 or later, the trio is out to show that that younger generation is taking over.
Kobe World saw Team Veteran Returns lose all their matches. When CIMA took time off to re-evaluate his career, the team also took a chance to re-evaluate how to move forward. They decided to merge with the Windows unit to become We Are Team Veteran. Though Gamma was not keen on the idea of teaming with K-ness., he has since made amends the group has been on the come back. Masaaki Mochizuki, Dragon Kid, and K-ness. went on to win Triangle gate and later Dragon Kid and K-ness. added Twin Gate. They have experienced a set back with Dragon Kid injured, thereby vacating the belts, but they are proving that they still have a lot of fight left in them.
Meanwhile, WORLD-1 INTERNATIONAL and the Jimmys seem to be in a bit of a stall. It doesn't help that there has been some frustration with friendly fire. With the Jimmys, Mr. Quu Quu Tanizaki Naoki Toyonaka Dolphin and Jimmy Kagetora have not been on the right page for months. In W1i, it seems like everyone is frustrated with each other. It came ahead on September 12 at Korakuen Hall when, during a Tag League match against Akira Tozawa and Shingo Takagi, Naruki Doi betrayed Masato Yoshino and joined up with MAD BLANKEY, effectively disbanding W1i. Upset that their tag match was ruined by MB, Tozawa and Shingo extended membership to their Team of Best Friends to Yoshino, Ricochet, and Shachihoko BOY. Where Rich Swann will go whenever he returns to Japan is unknown.
To review, -akatsuki- and WORLD-1 INTERNATIONAL have disbanded. Team Veteran Returns and Windows have merged to become We Are Team Veteran. The Millenials have landed in Japan, MAD BLANKEY have grown stronger, and a Team of Best Friends is in the making.
YAMATO is in possession of Dream Gate while Brave Gate, Twin Gate, and Triangle Gate have been vacated. Brave Gate is being decided through a tournament while the winners of the Tag League will be the interim Twin Gate Champions. The only other championship is the Owarai Gate, which in the possession of Ryo "Jimmy" Saito.
