Feel free to ask for any Dragon Gate USA or EVOLVE recommendations (which DVDs you should buy, which IPPVS you should get on demand etc) in this thread.
My first question; Uprising 2011 and Bushido 2011, which one should I get first? They both look great on paper. They're two of the three DGUSA shows I haven't seen from last year.

Uprising didn't live up to its potential in my opinion. Nothing on it to really go out of your way for, although it is pretty entertaining. Not sure about Bushido 2011.

I also can only comment on Uprising....The negative, there is nothing in the way of bonus material. And dgusa fans probably don't care about Papadon vs Alex Reynolds. Outside of those 2 things, I'd say it was a solid show. The 7 other match's are good.

I'm new to Dragon Gate USA/Evolve, so new that I haven't seen a single show. I saw some highlights on youtube and was immediately impressed. Ok, with that being said, I'm on a bit of a budget and want to get 1 or 2 of their very best DVDs. The kind of shows that are pure greatness from top to bottom, the kind that you find yourself watching over and over again, that hook you, and make you a fan for life. That's what I'm looking for. I was thinking about getting "Open the Historic Gate." Everywhere I look, it seems to get rave reviews... or with it being an older show, has it since been surpassed? What are the 2 very best shows that you'd recommend?

IWhat are the 2 very best shows that you'd recommend? Couldn't recommended "Enter The Dragon: First Anniversary Celebration" enough as a first show. It is just really great all around. Shingo vs. Bryan Danielson is amazing. Lots of todays stars break out on it. As for the second show. Open The Historic Gate is indeed a great choice. Very rewatchable. Way of the Ronin from 2010 (Bryan Danielson on Cover) is another good title for your second option. It has a great Dragon Gate 6-Man in particular.

Thank you very much danespina! I'm going with "Enter the Dragon: First Anniversary Celebration" and "Way of the Ronin 2010." I'm really looking forward to watching them. I can't thank you enough for taking the time to reply.

dragon gate needs to get over more use it on tv or on here and if had tv would help getthe guys over better If you stretch it to three, you could pick up Untouchable 2010, the show between those two shows. It's another one with Danielson, in the main event with YAMATO. I'd personally recommend Open The Historic Gate and Open The Untouchable Gate (the first two shows) as starting points, or Historic Gate and Enter The Dragon First Anniversary.

Thanks hellion! You believe the first two shows are their best two shows or you just think I should start at the beginning? Is Untouchable 2010 one of their better shows? I have no concern for storyline or continuity. If I get hooked, then in the future, I may go back and start filling in shows to complete a collection, but first I have to get hooked, so for the time being, I just want the very best in ring action that DGUSA has to offer.

If you are thinking about picking up three shows, maybe get a whole weekend. The 3 United shows from January 2011 or the 3 shows from Wrestlemania weekend 2011 are both good routes to go.

Yeah I think the first two shows are two of the best, as is the first anniversary. Icyhot is right in saying that picking up a whole weekend is a good way to go though. Are you already a fan of any DGUSA wrestlers in particular?

Not so much a fan of any particular wrestlers... I'm an ROH fan, (although I lost somewhat of interest in their product over the past few years) so I'm familiar with the wrestlers that have worked in ROH and while I'd love to see more Danielson, I'm actually more excited to see wrestlers that are new to me. Such as Chuck Taylor or Ricochet and other names that I've seen thrown around on various sites, but haven't really had the opportunity to see much of (outside of youtube). Ricochet really caught my eye... he appears to be a phenomenal athlete that's on a whole other level, admittedly, he looks like a "spot monkey," but I'm ok with that and I'm really intrigued to see more of him, I love high flyers. Pac and Dragon Kid are other wrestlers that I've only seen in their limited use in ROH, so I'd like to see more of them as well. Although, there's not really one particular wrestler that sells me on a show, it's the all around depth of the show.

I still suggest 1st Year Anniversary because Ricochet and Chuck Taylor are in a great 4 way match together.
After you get your first two shows. Look out for Freedom Fight 2011. It'll come out in a month and featurea Ricochet vs. Pac. I'm pretty sure you'll like it. If you've only seen Pac in ROH, he's going to impress you. Freedom Fight 2011 is also a good show to catch up on the current product with. So again look out for that, but I'd say go ahead and get your two back catalogue shows before hand.
