They don't even have to say "interim champ". It could be a number one contender tournament, have Gargano there on commentary for the whole thing, then have the winner get in his face and have a stare down to set up the next batch of shows. I think it could work really well.

Yeah I like that idea icyhot. Having Gargano on commentary watching a no 1 contender match.

I think it could work really well. That would be very cool, assuming Gargano will be back for the next set of shows (I'm assuming in June or July). DGUSA needs more tournaments, I loved Freedom Fight 2009 and the United weekend.

We're less than a week away from FIST being in a match in CHIKARA and they haven't said anything otherwise.... I guess that will be the real test to see how he is.

I think they've had Icarus fill in for him in a title defence before, I assume they'll just do that again. If it actually happened in the first place. Which I think it did.

I'm not sure how many people check out Chikara's blog section, but Gargano posted one recently (13th, I believe), giving a rudo-update on his situation. In it, it did heavily imply that he would be wrestling UMB and Hallowicked for the belts, but as he didn't downright say anything (key phases (paraphrased) included 'Johnny Gargano at 36% is still better than most of Chikara at 100%' and 'Daddy's home'), I'm not sure whether he will be there or not. Or, alternatively, he could be there, but just have Chucky T take all the big bumps. So, I'd imagine his treatment would be good if he can drop such heavy hints (then again, it would be within FIST's nature to tease the fans with such promises, then pulling them back like a bunch of jerks), but...I don't know. For the DGUSA scenario, unless they knew Gargano was still going to be out past the show/s after the WM weekend, I'd imagine stripping him would be pointless, so the best course of action would be #1 Contendership, with some Gargano commentary, if the case is that he can't make it. If any of you are interested in reading what Gargano actually said, it can be found here; www.chikarapro.com/blog/2-13-2012.php

In the meantime, he is booked for March 29 in the 3-Way 6-Man Tag, as announced through the newsletter. Sounds like, at the very least, he may be ready by then. Not to mention having that many bodies in the ring would also povide a little cover in that he won't have to be in the ring the whole time.

Your right, he is booked on March 29th. Its a match with 9 competitors so I'm not sure if that means he's ready to go 1 on 1 for a title defence, but it would indicate he'll probably be ready to defend Evolve 11 if anything. So no stripping of the title needed.
