Between his "shocking" mania title loss, lesnar's added insult to injury next day and sting's "accidental" aew name drop it seems like the most ideal time to focus on mr rhode's current career state compared to where he was 4 years ago. For those who didn't read it here's his first official AEW statement[mid-january 2019]regarding launch of his "first" brand: "I feel so damn lucky. I believe that more than talent...more than chance...work ethic will guide me where I'd like to go. To be Executive Vice President for our new venture, and to be flanked by matt and nick and a few familiar names sharing that position: this is my dream job. I can't think of a time when so many of wrestling's top free agents all opted out of the raod usually traveled and instead wanted to start something new. I am excited to see AEW into existence. What's old isn't new--what's new is new. Perception isn't reality--reality is reality. Fans first."
I wonder firstly how much REGRET he & brandi share knowing that they both NOT only "left" the brand THEY helped create, but also went BACK to the brand they competed against in more ways than one? What happened to that "work ethic" he talked about? HOW much did they both REALLY invest emotionally/spiritually before deciding to walk away from their "dream job"? Did they NOT have other viable indy options? Being a general fan since 86 & a reinvented indy fan since 2000 I've seen too many who had the faith/persistence/wisdom to start over in a new home. But for Brandy/cody, going backwards to wwe IS taking THREE steps back...
